Terms of Use

Last updated 27 October 2026

These terms apply when you use the Mai Map apps for Mac, iPad and iPhone, and maimap.app, including maps shared there (together, "Mai Map"). By using Mai Map, you agree to them. "We" and "us" mean the people who make Mai Map. Our Privacy Policy explains what we keep and why.

Mai Map is in beta

Mai Map is still being built and tested. Features may change, and sharing may sometimes be unavailable. Keep your own copies of maps that matter to you: the apps keep every map as a file on your device or in your iCloud Drive.

Your account

You sign in with Apple or Google to share maps and to edit maps shared with you. Keep access to that account safe; you're responsible for what's done with your Mai Map account. You can delete it at any time in the app, under Settings ▸ Sharing.

Your maps

Your maps are yours. When you share one, you let us store it, keep it in sync, and show it to the people who have its link, only as far as that's needed to run Mai Map. You also let the people you invite edit it.

Anyone with a map's link can see it and download a copy, so share links only with people who should have them. You can stop or replace a link at any time.

Only share what you have the right to share, and nothing that breaks the law or other people's rights.

Using Mai Map fairly

Don't use Mai Map to:

We may remove shared maps, or suspend or close accounts, that break these terms, and we may report illegal content to the authorities.

The apps

The apps are licensed to you through the App Store (or Apple's TestFlight, while testing) under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, alongside these terms. Paid features, when offered, are sold through the App Store, and Apple's terms cover payment, renewals and refunds.

No guarantees

We work hard to keep Mai Map reliable and your maps safe, but Mai Map is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise that it will always be available or free of errors.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of Mai Map. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer where you live.

Ending

You can stop using Mai Map and delete your account at any time. We may stop offering sharing, or Mai Map, with reasonable notice where we can; your maps stay on your devices either way.

Changes

We may update these terms as Mai Map grows. We'll change the date at the top, and tell you in the app about changes that matter. Using Mai Map after a change means you accept the new terms.
