How do I share a map?
Open the map and choose Share ▸ Share Link…, then sign in with Apple or Google. You get two links: the map's link, which anyone can open to see the map, and an invite link for the people who should edit it.
Do people need Mai Map to see my map?
No. The link opens in any web browser, on any device, without an account. They see your changes as you make them.
How do I let someone edit a map?
Send them the invite link. They open it, sign in with Apple or Google, and can then edit in their browser or in Mai Map. You'll see them under "Can edit" in the map's Sharing… sheet, where you can also remove them.
How do I stop sharing a map?
Open the map, choose Sharing…, then Stop Sharing. The link stops working for everyone. To keep sharing with some people but not others, choose New Link and send the new link only to them.
How do I open a map someone shared with me in Mai Map?
On the web page, choose Open in Mai Map. On the Mac you can also choose File ▸ Open Shared Link… and paste the link; on iPhone and iPad, tap Open Shared Link on Mai Map's start screen.
Your maps
Where are my maps saved?
Every map is a .mai file, saved wherever you choose: in iCloud Drive, so it appears on all your devices, or on one device. Maps that you share also have a copy on our server while they're shared.
Can I bring in maps from another app?
Yes. Mai Map opens maps from Xmind, MindNode, iThoughts, FreeMind and Freeplane, OPML and Markdown. Open the file in Mai Map, and it tells you what came across.
Can I get my maps out of Mai Map?
Yes. Choose Export… to save a map, or one branch of it, as an image (PNG or SVG), a PDF, Markdown, OPML or plain text.
What happens if I edit the same map on two devices?
Mai Map keeps the edits from both and fits them together, even if one of the devices was offline. You won't be asked to choose a version.
Your account
Do I need an account?
Only to share maps, or to edit a map someone shared with you. Everything else works without one.
How do I delete my account?
In Mai Map, go to Settings ▸ Sharing ▸ Delete Account…. This deletes your account and the maps you shared from our server; their links stop working. Maps on your devices stay as they are.
Which devices does Mai Map run on?
Mac with macOS 15 or later, and iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 18 or later. Shared maps open in any modern web browser.
How do I send a problem report?
If Mai Map crashed, open Settings ▸ Problem Reports and share the report with us by email. Reports stay on your device until you share them.
